Who We Are, and Some Helpful Information About Ordering

The Gardens

Arghya Gardens is a botanical garden on a very small plot of land. It began with gifts of plants, soil and fertilizer as a means of restoration. Over time, restoration came, and an idea was born. Suppose some of earth's truly rare plants could be brought together in one place? Certainly, the rain forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. What of the plants within them? Why not bring rare plants together, grow them and distribute them to responsible gardeners? We have spent a long time gathering many unusual plants, and have decided to make them employees of a sort. They work to sustain one another via seed, cutting and tunication. In doing so, they assure themselves a more lasting place on the planet, and they enhance our lives with their performance and beauty. This is also a place where we hope new plant varieties will be born. Although some of our seed is open pollinated, we hand pollinate quite a bit. If we come up with something new and different, we'll let you know. Over the past few years, we have come to know many other gardeners who have similar goals, and we respect their contribution to the preservation of plants we wish our children and their children to enjoy in the future. We hope you feel the same way as you search our catalog or purchase plants and seeds from us.

What You Can Expect From Us

Like many of you we have ordered plants on line. In most cases we have been pleased, but there have been times when we've had a 3 " plant in a 2" pot roll out of the box directly to life support. We believe that 2" pots a sale do not make. We want to sell you a plant that can take it's place in your garden as quickly as possible. Some plants are truly scarce, but not so scarce that a 3" cutting is all we can spare. We have approximately 200 types of plants available, but all of them are not available at the same time. We contend with limited space, radical changes in weather and crop failure as many growers do. If you visit our eBay site through the links found at various places on this site you will find plants and seeds currently available to ship. Our galleries illustrate what may be available during the year. We are not a massive plant nursery. We are a botanical garden. We aren't cranking plants out like nuts and bolts. We take our time. Our goal is to sell you a plant we would like to receive.

Our eBay Site

We sell primarily through our eBay site . If you see plants you would like, or wish to check on seed availability, click on the "Our eBay Site" link found at the bottom of the menu list. We update the eBay site on a weekly basis, so there's a continuous flow of new plant material and seed. We may also sell special items on site. When this feature becomes available, we'll let you know.

Shipping

We ship Priority Mail  unless plants are very large. For larger plants, we will determine best way to ship at the time of sale. If you are concerned about your plant arriving in good shape, ask for insurance. We are no less concerned about your plant arriving safely than you are, but we cannot be held responsible for damage in transit. We package responsibly with the hope that the plants and seeds we've produced will arrive at your door intact and ready to assume their place in your garden. Plants are like people. They like to stay where they are most comfortable, and long trips can leave them frazzled and distressed - imagine yourself boxed, traveling cross country in August! When  your plant arrives, unpack it quickly and administer a drink of water. Place it in a location where it may receive filtered light for a few days before you plant it in it's permanent location. Email us if you have a question about care.

We cannot ship to California, Puerto Rico, Arizona or Hawaii.

We do not ship plant orders internationally. We do ship seed overseas, but we do not supply phyto-sanitary certificates. If your country requires such certification, please do not order, as seeds will probably be confiscated by customs. If you do not require phyto-sanitary certificates, but you have a special request for packaging or information for customs forms, please let us know at point of sale.

Payment

We accept payment through PayPal only, and money orders. No credit cards. checks or foreign currency, please. U.S. Dollars only. We hope you will enjoy the catalog and bookmark us for a weekly return visit. As always, we wish you your best gardening season ever.

Regards,

The Gardeners of Arghya Gardens
