Free Plants For The Cost Of Postage Only! The Plants Exchange!

The Plants Exchange

The concept is a simple one: you offer plants from your garden for free, you are paid the cost of shipping by a fellow gardener, you ship the plant. Done deed.

We will have some guidelines for making cuttings, sending rooted plant material, packing, shipping, etc. We hope you will adhere to the guidelines so that The Plants Exchange will be a great experience for everyone. Once we get the site’s navigation and programming complete, we’re going to start off by offering one kind of plant – Brugmansia. By restricting the process to one kind of plant, we’ll be able to work the technical bugs out of the system and fine tune the navigational and communication aspects of life here. When we’re sure the system runs smoothly, we’ll probably add Hibiscus, Passiflora, tropical plants, carniverous prehistoric vegetation – whatever all of you decide. Until then, updates on the progress of the technical aspect will be posted here, so check back.

When we’re ready to launch, the Brugmansia people can bombard us! LOL! You’ll notice that there are no forums here. A Facebook group has been set up for discussion. You can participate in the growth of this site, make suggestions or discuss related matters there. You can also post a comment or suggestion here on the site. We’re trying to keep communication here limited to people offering, and the people requesting plant material – more of a one-on-one situation.

We haven’t forgotten the international community. There will be a special place for our worldwide gardening brothers and sisters too. So, if you’re in Germany – you’ll be able to find other gardeners in Germany to trade with. All in good time. Guidelines for domestic and international trade will be offered as well. Trades between the U.S. and foreign countries are a touchy business involving customs and phyto-sanitary certificates, so if you’re not familiar with those regulations, you’re better off keeping trades within your own country. We’ll get to all of this.

We want to inspire children to garden. We have some creative programs rolling around in our noodle. We’ll post those programs when they’re finalized.

That’s it for now. Remember, feel free to post here and offer suggestions. Please be patient with us while we make sure all the buttons and forms work, and the copy gets written. In the meantime, spread the word about The Plants Exchange! The more people we get involved, the better selection of plants will be available.

There will NEVER be any selling from this site – period! No prices listed. No seller ads, no mention of money changing hands or you’re blipped! Only shipping will be paid for.

Membership is free. The ads are free.
