The Best On-Line Plant Retailers

The Best On-Line Plant Retailers

For a plant lover, there's no better feeling than seeing a plant you've recently ordered, delivered and propped up against your front door. If the plant inside the package is healthy and lives up to your expectations, its a good day. On the other hand, if its not the plant you ordered or expected, or is unhealthy and poorly packaged, you're at a loss in more ways than one. Ordering plants on-line can be a dream fulfilled or a nightmare.

Over a period of time, after you've ordered many plants, you develop a list of on-line plant retailers you just love doing business with. We would like to invite you to share your great buying experiences with us by recommending your favorite plant vendors to other keen gardeners. So, lets get started!

We are interested in on-line merchants in the U.S.A. or other parts of the world. Whether you're in Iowa or France, feel free to recommend whomever you wish. After you look over the criteria for recommendation, write the name and internet address of the business in the form below, and include a few sentences about why you're making the recommendation. Your favorite plant sellers can be sellers of Brugmansia, Passiflora, Amaryllis, Clivia, Hoya, Hibiscus, any kind of plant. If your favorite seller has many different kinds of plants, you can list that seller too. If your favorite seller just sells seed, fine.  Feel free to list as many sellers as you wish. They just have to be the best of their kind! Don't forget to add your country of origin. That's it!

We'll add each name in their unique catagory as they come in. So, make sure to check back often! This is going to be a permanent list, so its going to grow!

We'd like to ask you to consider the following criteria when you make your recommendation.

Plants:

Advertised plants are known cultivars or species and are accurately, photographically depicted in all advertisements.
Advertisements for specific plants reflect a knowledge of that plant and includes care instructions.
Advertisers include description of height of plant and approximate pot size in ads.
Plants arrive healthy.
Plants are well packaged for shipment.
Plants arrive in a timely manner.
Shipping cost is reasonable and reflects current carrier rates.

Seed:

Photos of specific plants, pod parents and pollen donors are accurately depicted in seed advertisements.
Seed advertisements include accurate information about selectively crossed seed.
If seed is open-pollinated, it is noted in the ad for that seed.
Seed is responsibly packaged and includes planting instructions.
Shipping cost is reasonable and reflects current carrier rates.

Thank you very much for participating in this project. We want to make sure everyone has a pleasant and satisfying experience when they purchase plants on-line. Your contribution to this information will be much appreciated by the gardening community.

Best Regards,
