Brugmansia Ashoka Plant

$22.00

Brugmansia Ashoka is a new release for 2012 from Arghya Gardens. Ashoka blooms very thick walled, multi-corolla blooms colored variously light through watermelon pink. A very fat flower! Growth rate is very fast and it becomes a tree very quickly. It continuously produces outgrowth that can be pruned off to create more trees. Most of our Brugmansia perform best at temperatures between 55 - 80 degrees, and Asoka does so as well. With good care, Asoka will provide many years of enjoyment...and lots of offsprings to share!

Brugmansia enjoy morning sun and afternoon shade. Peak performance is achieved at temperatures between 50 - 80 degrees. Keep well-watered in soil that includes at least 40% Perlite. Fertilize with Osmocote, 10-10-10 and Miracle Grow (foliar feeding). As are most of the Brugmansia (save those pesky Sanguineas) they are hardy in zones 9 -11. They may be killed by frost in more northern zones, but if you cut them back and mulch well before Winter hits, they will rebound when the weather warms. You may also choose to store them inside in pots where winters are harsh.

Our plants are 14" - 24" tall, and grown in deep, 6" pots. Shipped without the pot, but with roots and soil intact!

We do not ship bare root Brugmansia. We ship Brugmansia in their own soil. Stripping soil from the rootball causes stress and inhibits growth long after repotting. This is especially stressful when the plant is shipped during the Summer.

We do not ship cuttings. Unless cuttings have "lenticels" (small raised bumps on the stem), are at least as thick as your thumb and 8 to 10 inches tall, attempting rooting may fail. We want you to receive a fully rooted plant living in it's own environment and ready to become a thriving member of your garden.
