Planting And Care Instructions

The Blue Glory Bower is a specimen plant that can easily become a focal point in the garden. Each butterfly shaped blossom is shades of blue with purple anthers. It is a fast growing plant that can grow from six to eight feet if left unpruned. More often it is trained into small bush or tree form, and it makes a very showy pot plant. Propagation is very easy. Terminal cuttings placed in a glass of water, moist sand or dampened seed starting mix will usually root within two weeks at a temperature of between 70 and 85 degrees.
After the plant has become root bound in it's container, select another container at least 4" in diameter larger than the current container. Add about 2" of coarse gravel to the bottom of the container for drainage, then add some soil until setting the plant's root ball inside has the base of the plant 2" below the pot's rim. Use your fingers to loosen some roots from the root ball, set the plant in the pot, add soil, then firm soil around roots. Finish up by giving the plant a thorough watering.
Wait a few weeks before fertilizing your plant. Then, add some Miracle Grow each time you water. A teaspoon of timed-release fertilizer is helpful also. Above all, do not overwater, and give your plant plenty of sun. Prune when the plant gets leggy, and save cuttings for friends!
